Everything, including their coffee, was delicious. Their server was incredibly nice, chatting with us and helping us decide what to order and answering our questions without feeling "pushy" at all. Loved it.
Super friendly staff, lovely, chill environment, and the food was waaay better than I was expecting it to be. I will definitely be going back!
Cool hang out place. We were passing thru from visiting the Earthship and it showed up as a place with vegan options which we were grateful for, unfortunately we were disappointed with the super slow service even though the place was not busy at all. The waitress was not knowledgeable to answer basic ingredients questions and when she said she would check, she forgot to. All in all, one of us paid $15 for a seemingly skimpy lunch special which arrived cold. The only saving Grace was the falafel sandwich which was actually warm and somewhat tasty, but dry.
Really good food. Portions were a little small for my liking. This place provides a unique Taos experience.
Good food, friendly service. A good break from the ubiquitous Mexican cuisine of Taos.
Amazing staff. Amazing vibe. Very interesting twist on multiple ethnic dishes. My family was made to feel like we were the most important and interesting people. Food was good. Owner is super interesting. Staff presented themselves like they were vested in the restaurant. I realized tonight that all these factors are so important in appreciating good meal.
Falafel was delish
Food was okay, ambience was alright too but the service was inefficent. Wasn't even busy and never got checked upon even once. Glad that I went there just to find out I won't be ever going there again! I would give them zero star if it was possible.
Great food and service. Decor is rustic. A must do if your anywhere near Taos. We traveled an hour and was not disappointed.
Great variety of healthy and tasty food. Golden milk with tumeric is amazing! Cozy family friendly atmosphere.
5 stars for the vibes and the friendly staff! Turkish coffee was pretty dank. Check it out!
Loved the food. Didn't have to customize the order since vegeterian food is easily available. The menu is not expensive . For 4 people the cost came up to 40$ which is quite reasonable. The staff is very friendly.Ambience is amazing and is very cosy place.Must place to visit for food in Taos
Average. The building seems old and worn down and doesn't inspire feelings of cleanliness. The food was OK, but nothing special. I got fire roasted eggplant and didn't like it at all, but maybe that was just a matter of personal taste. I also tried some samosas, and those were in line with other samosas I've had before. I also tried some "spicy" hummus and either they gave us regular hummus by mistake or the hummus was not spicy at all. The hummus itself wasn't that good. I've made better myself, which is sad because I'm terrible in the kitchen. Prices were a little high but not crazy for Taos. I don't recommend this place.
They are all vegiterian and the food was great. The service was excellent. The only thing is they charge extra if you use a credit card.
The food is amazing! Love the atmosphere.. definitely my favorite restaurant in Taos🙏 vegetation and vegan friendly. Bring the whole family, awesome for kids.
Super good veg food, best place to eat healthy in Taos.
Had many pleasant dinners there , however, it's a great spot to have a Draught beer outside , away from the hustle and bustle. Nice patio plants and sweet service.
Nice relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant has outside, inside & traditional esatern seating, a pool table, & a family room. Food is indian influenced, flavorful, tastie & fresh.
What a wonderful place with delicious food! We got the spicy falafel sandwich and an indian dish.
This place is incredible! Beautiful, warm décor and setting, spacious and family friendly, kind friendly and helpful staff, amazing authentic delicious clean healthy food, and a wonderful mission statement about promoting peace and awareness! Is this place even real???
Ahhhhmazing palette of flavors delivered in a friendly and hip atmosphere.
We just happened upon this place by accident. We were so glad we did. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options, wonderful service, and very reasonable prices. Definitely try the homemade mint lemonade if it's a warm day. We would go back in a heartbeat.
We arrived shortly before close and Alysha(Elysha?) was beyond welcoming. The menu was jam-packed with foods we adore and what we ordered (goat cheese falafel, dolmas and zaatar fries) was delicious! Highly recommended, especially at happy hour for 3$ wine/beer 🙃
My all time favorite place to eat and hang out in Taos! Beautiful atmosphere, delicious food(that accommodates to any dietary lifestyle) and great service! As well as a pet friendly patio decorated with flowers. 110% recommend!
Great people, great food, great atmosphere.
Yum, Yum, Yum. I went to this place twice during my stay in Taos. One of few dedicated vegetarian/vegan spots in town. They have a lot of vegan options and many things can be made vegan. The vibe is so cool and hip, it makes you want to keep coming back. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The menu is heavily influenced with Middle Eastern and Israeli flavors, with almost everything made in house. The open kitchen makes for an authentic feel. The drink and food specials are also great and make eating here regularly exciting. I will be coming back.
The veggie burger was really interesting, the fries were ok. Prices were more than I would have liked, but the portions seemed pretty generous. Nice ambience.
The strong one 💪
Excellent lunch or dinner choice for any vegan (or vegetarian!) in Taos. Never been disappointed!
Extremely satisfied with the food - the back ground music was also very pleasant. The experience is a delightful counter to what I call franchise america. : ) very peaceful..
Waited an hour table of 7 walked in 20 minutes after us and got fast service we walked out hungry
One of my absolute favorite restaurants! The daily specials are out of this world. Amazing flavors, super creative. I crave this place almost every day. Our non- vegetarian friends love it, too.
The food was great and the staff was friendly, going out of their way to make our dining experience pleasant. We would definitely recommend El Gamal!
Was a new unique Restaurant i was invited to and I liked the setup and menu is great, tried the pizza with red pepper and onion, service in the back was somewhat slow in the family area but was good. Will have to go back and see what else I can try. Pizza picture will be up soon thanks 👌
We stumbled upon El Gamal when searching for vegetarian food in Taos on a ski vaca and were so excited to find it! Incredible staff, the food (daily dosa & falafel sandwich) was superb, and we wish we lived closer. We'll be back next time we're in town!
Strolling Bent Street and Taos Plaza, STARVING and chatting with merchants, the answer to the question, "where's the best place to eat around here?", or "what is your favorite local eatery?" El Gamal, was in most every answer. Cozy, chilled, relaxed atmosphere are just bonuses to the ABSOLUTELY yummy experience at El Gamal! Spicy falafel sandwich and Smokey falafel sandwich are both outstanding, huge, messy and packed with flavor! Appetizer of Fries (that may look like Pries, due to lettering on the menu) with Zatar seasoning shouldn't be missed if you accompany them with the smokey mayo, forget ketchup, trust, the fries and smokey mayo will be your go to side going forward. Authentic and awesome owner and staff - (look for an Aries with arrows and you've found a gem) - are fresh air, in the wanna be hip arena that Taosites straddle the line of possessing. Go to El Gamal, it'll be your first of "Every time we're in the area".
Vegan options! Tried their sampler and I preferred the falafel and dolmas over anything else.
Truly phenomenal food and service. Every aspect was perfect. Cute homey restaurant as well.
Had lunch here before heading to Taos Peublo.....it was fantastic! The atmosphere was very welcoming and my Smoky Falafel Sandwich was the best. We trly enjoyed our meal. I highly recommend this place if you're visiting Taos.
Damn good food in a funky cool setting. Spicy Falafel is excellent, fries... hell yes, had some curries and a chutney sort of sampler, delicious! Oh snap that Israeli salad is the bomb too! I almost forgot! Yeah you should go!
Great food, great people, great ambience, even down to the bathroom walls!
Amazing find in taos. Food was amazing! And I'm not vegetarian. Service was excellent and atmosphere was great. We plan on making this a permanent stop when in town. Try the falafel, they are the best (not too hard on the outside like other restaurants when over cooked) they have a nice light crisp outside and tender inside. Hummus was so good we had to order more. Beer, wine and homemade non alcoholic drinks available. Pet friendly on the front patio. They will even bring water for fido if needed. Best part of all... prices are reasonable. Highly recommend if your in the area.
Amazing Mediterranean and Middle Eastern food! Vegetarian and vegan! This is a must-go place in Taos!!!
Sometimes vegetarian food is a compromise for a dining companion. My meat loving husband and myself (a former vegetarian who always loved meat) really enjoyed our meal here. The food was flavorful and filling.
Authentic Middle Eastern cuisine, with the feel of being thousands of miles away!
This is a go to place for food when we're in Taos.
Excellent food and cool atmosphere. Huge plus was the family room, where our little one could play the entire time allowing us to eat! (Parents, you know what I mean) Really cute spot and again, really great food.
El Gamal has opened my taste buds up to a whole new world. The meals are always tasty and leave me feeling healthy.Five out of five camels 🐪🐪🐪🐪🐪
Love this place. The food is so good, made right with pure ingredients. Kind, friendly staff. Their bread and hummus are very traditional and delicious. The carrot cake is very good. Chefs are great and so are the waitresses.
The food was good to say the least. The staff was amazing and the place is too good. It shows the love that has been put into it through various elements spread out all around the place.
